Exciting Opportunity at IBM for the role of Data Engineer – Data Platforms – Google.

Qualifications

• Software development experience with core Java and J2EE
• Practical experience with JDK 1.8 or above
• Experience with Spring and similar frameworks
• Experience writing multithreaded applications
• Experience in software engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Develop/Convert the database (Hadoop to GCP) of specific objects (tables, views, procedures, functions, triggers, etc.)
• Implement data replication mechanisms (CDC, file data transfer, bulk data transfer, etc.)
• Expose data as API
• Participate in modernization roadmap journey
• Analyze discovery and analysis outcomes
• Lead discovery and analysis workshops/playbacks
• Identify application dependencies, source, and target database incompatibilities
• Analyze non-functional requirements (security, HA, RTO/RPO, storage, compute, network, performance benchmarks, etc.)
• Prepare effort estimates, WBS, staffing plans, RACI, RAID, etc.
• Lead the team to adopt appropriate tools for various migration and modernization methods

Preferred Skills

• Strong teamwork and excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate with internal and external clients to understand and define business needs, providing analytical solutions
• Ability to communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
